Monolith

This photo-series shot on 35mm black and white film explores the 'Monoliths' of Cape Town, South Africa. The boxes of death are indicative of the constant need to tame cities and some of their smallest residents into submission. The macabre black boxes contain bait that attracts rodents; slowly poisoning them and keeping our streets clear of vermin. Rats represent the potential feral-ness of cities, and these mini monoliths signal control and order.
